Need to bring an appetizer to a your next get-together? Looking for a heart healthy dip, in place of the usual cream cheese or cheese-laden suspects?

Look no further!

This twist on guacamole is sure to liven up your taste buds. So grab some plantain chips (corn chips will do too) and enjoy!

3 avocados, ripe

1/2 red onion, diced

2 garlic cloves, minced

1/4 c fresh cilantro, chopped

1 jalapeño, seeds removed, diced

1 lime, juiced

1/2 tsp salt

3/4 c pomegranate seeds

Add all ingredients except the pomegranate seeds to a mixing bowl. Use a fork to mash the ingredients together, until well combined.

Add 1/2 cup of the pomegranate seeds and stir together.

Transfer into a serving bowl. Top with the remaining 1/4 cup of pomegranate seeds and an extra sprinkle of cilantro, for that red and green pop of color.
