Stretches For Plantar Fasciitis

Dec 4, 2020
Fitness Friday

Plantar fasciitis is an extremely common condition that affects a band of tissue that connects the heel to the toes of the foot. It is most commonly presented with inflammation in and around the affected region but could also present as pain in the heel or near the arch of the foot. In less severe cases, your Doctor may suggest an over the counter anti-inflammatory pain medication like Naproxen or Aleve alongside proper footwear, orthotic support, and maybe even an overnight splint. Additionally you may need to ice, rest, and stretch to get rid of unwanted pain. Severe cases may require steroid injections, Tenex procedure, surgery or other less common procedures.

In some cases, plantar fasciitis can resolve itself without treatment. However, preventative measures to speed up recovery and/or maintain healthy mobility of the heel, arch, foot and calf can be beneficial. Here are some quick stretches that you can start with today!
